The Makkina

The Makkina is a filmmaker duo based between Lisbon and Milan, formed by Inês von Bonhorst and Yuri Pirondi. Their work follows a poetic narrative dealing with the many aspects of our society through dreamlike situations, tracing a fantastic path into ordinary daily life, the fabulous side into the presumed banality.

Since meeting in London 10 years ago, Inês and Yuri have worked on commissioned commercials for brands including Nike, Rebook, Valentino, Ducati, and Vogue. Their films range from feature documentaries, such as ‘Cavallerizzo’, to poetic short film ‘The Funambulist Dream’, which has received multiple international awards.
