Farid Renais Ghimas

Farid Renais Ghimas, born in Bengkulu, Indonesia, is a photographer, now based in Jakarta. He moved to the UK in 2018 to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Fashion Photography at Leeds Arts University before continuing with an MA program at Central Saint Martins.

Having remained in London following the completion of his studies in 2022, he has recently returned to Jakarta.  The essence of Farid’s work lies in the interplay between imagery and emotion, portraying not just scenes but encapsulating sentiments. His work exudes calmness and tranquility, often characterized by soothing colours reminiscent of a peaceful late afternoon glow. He views his approach to colour as an integral part of the image — a visual expression that triggers memories of a visceral emotions from growing up in Indonesia.
