Danielle Mbonu

Danielle Mbonu is a self taught photographer and director born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria. Her work centres around portraiture, fashion, art, and documentary imagery. She is renowned for documenting the creative essence of Lagos and her work is deeply infused with cultural traces of her origins. Focusing on black beauty and opulence, her photos, without failure, display a rich sense of youthful freedom.

Danielle has worked with Nike, Off-White, and Daily Paper, and been featured in NativeMag, Vogue, I-D, Hypebeast, Wonderland, THE FACE, Crack, and Okay Africa, amongst others. In 2018, Danielle branched out into film and creative direction, making her debut as one of the artistic directors on the Skepta’s “Energy” (featuring Wizkid) music video, which captured youth culture in Lagos. She has since directed videos for the likes of Tems and Naira Marley.
